Privacy Policy

BuildShed (“BuildShed”, “we”, “us”) is a small UK-based software company building tools for Shopify merchants and online businesses. This policy explains what personal information we collect through buildshed.dev, how we use it, and the rights you have. For the purposes of UK data protection law, BuildShed is the data controller for the information described here.

Information we collect

• ProductGuard waitlist. When you submit the waitlist form, we collect the email address you enter so we can contact you about early access to ProductGuard.
• Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything else you choose to include.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This is used to keep the site secure and running.
• Usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see aggregate site usage — page views, approximate visitor numbers, referring sites and general country and device information. It is cookieless, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect information that identifies you.

The website does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and it does not set any cookies of its own.

How we use your information

• To operate the ProductGuard waitlist and contact you about early access, availability and related updates.
• To respond to messages and enquiries you send us.
• To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.
• To maintain the security, integrity and performance of the site.

Our legal basis for sending you waitlist emails is your consent, given when you join the waitlist. Our legal basis for the other uses is our legitimate interest in running, understanding and improving the website and responding to people who contact us.

Email communications

If you join the waitlist we will only email you about ProductGuard and the waitlist itself — for example to confirm your sign-up, share progress, or let you know when early access opens. We will not add you to a general marketing list. You can ask us to remove you from the waitlist at any time by replying to any waitlist email or contacting us, and we will stop emailing you and delete your address.

Storage and third-party providers

We use a small number of reputable service providers to run the site and the waitlist: Vercel for hosting and cookieless usage analytics, and an email delivery provider to send waitlist emails. These providers process information only on our instructions. Some may store or process data outside the UK; where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your personal information or share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Data retention

We keep waitlist email addresses until ProductGuard’s early access period has ended or you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first. Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards. Server logs and aggregate analytics are retained only for a short period for security, diagnostics and trend analysis.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as BuildShed grows and as ProductGuard moves towards release. If we make a significant change we will update the date at the top of this page, and we’ll let waitlist members know by email where the change materially affects them.
